A survey is hardly needed to establish the importance of smiles, but Americans being the most precise people on earth, have one done to establish the value of smiles. The first poll to establish the importance of a smile, the Invisalign Smile Survey of 1000 men and women was conducted nationwide in the USA by Harris Interactive under a commission from Align Technology Inc. It attempted to gauge how important an attractive smile is in today's image conscious world.

Asked what they notice first when they meet someone new, 94% men and women said that they notice a person's smile before noticing their eyes, height and even figure. 64% felt that a nice smile showed an outgoing nature, while 71% felt that the value of an attractive smile in making new friends was immense.

People with a ready smile invariably attract others to them. Being always ready with a winning smile is literally worth millions in the field of romance. Ready smiles are also of much value both for securing the right job, and for succeeding in it. An impish grin has its own value, but is no match for a warm attractive smile, flashing all 32 white straight teeth.

Straightening of teeth with problems results in shy grins being replaced by confident smiles and strengthens self-esteem.
