Whitening Gels – Remove Unwanted Stains For A Younger, Healthier Smile

More and more people are taking advantage of the many different options available in order to whiten teeth with gels, paste, liquid rinse or even whitener strips that adhere to the teeth. While not all whitening products are created equal, visiting a dentist and having him or her use whitening gels in order to remove unwanted and unsightly stains can be a sure way of improving the look of a smile. Whitening gel can be found in over the counter tooth whitening products, but those bleach systems do not have the same kind of bleaching power a dentist uses in a whitener, so the results are not as complete or thorough.

The major causes of stains on teeth that require bleach treatments after some time include age, cigarette stains, coffee, tea and even red wine. The most powerful whitener gel that is used to bleach away such difficult stains can be found at the dentist’s office. Patients have more than one choice when they decide to have bleaching gel applied to their teeth. Most dentists offer patients the option of completing their tooth whitening program at home with a dentist-supervised treatment. Another option available for those who are uncomfortable with the responsibility of bleaching teeth at home is to have a dentist perform the whitening right in the office.

If a patient chooses to bleach their teeth at home, they will need to see their dentist in order to receive the proper whitener supplies and instructions. Individuals will be fitted with a specially molded whitening tray that holds the gel against the teeth. Patients will need to visit the dentist during their at-home whitening program to ensure the teeth are responding well to the bleach and sensitivity isn’t an issue. Dentists are also happy to whiten teeth right in their office by applying a powerful whitening gel to teeth. At home treatments may be recommended following an office whitening to prolong the bleaching effects.
