Dental Instruments – New Tools Offer Dental Relief
Once a person recognizes the pain in their mouth as a possible cavity, anxiety at having to have a cavity filled at the dentist usually rises. If an individual has more than one cavity, the prospect of multiple dentist visits including local anesthesia and drilling can even have him or her postpone a visit to the dentist. The days of having to fear the pain and numerous visits to the dentist are coming to an end with the introduction of many new, technologically advanced dental instruments. With the recent introduction of SS White Burs, Inc.’s SmartPrep Instruments, the field of dentistry can provide patients with faster procedures with less discomfort.
When dentists use a SmartPrep dental instrument, they are using the first available tool in dentistry that can differentiate between soft decay and solid, healthy dentin. Traditional dental procedures did not allow for a dentist to be able to make the distinction between decay and healthy dentin. The SmartPrep tools and instruments are made up of a unique chemical compound that self-regulates its drilling on a tooth. The tools have small blades that are strong enough to remove decay but come to a full stop once the surface of healthy dentin has been reached.
Dentists and patients can benefit from tools like the SmartPrep Instruments because they potentially cause less discomfort during dental procedures. There are small tubes in the dentin of teeth and fewer are exposed when a dentist uses a SmartPrep tool. Sensitivity can occur with exposed tubules in dentin. With fewer dentin exposed, patients are less likely to need anesthesia during a dental visit and can possibly have multiple procedures done in a single visit.
Dental work that has always been associated with pain and discomfort can now be completed with faster relief and less distress when a dentist uses the SmartPrep tools. The instruments are intended for dental work in both adults and children, so all dentists should be able to offer the latest in technology to provide all of their patients with healthy teeth.
