Permanent Dental Implants – A Safe Alternative For Adults and Children
Appearance is important to just about everyone, including children. If an adult or child has an accident that results in the loss of a permanent tooth, the empty opening in the mouth could cause discomfort and even embarrassment. Options from dentists in the past didn’t offer much choice as far as fixing a single gap in an individual’s teeth. Fortunately for both adults and children, permanent dental implants could be the answer to having beautiful teeth.
The only alternative people could count on in dentistry for a long time was bridges. If a person looses an entire tooth, bridgework often makes him or her feel as if they have dentures. A dentist can use a dental implant, which is a false tooth base made out of titanium (a light strong gray lustrous corrosion-resistant metallic element used in strong light-weight alloys) often compared to the shape of a tee used in golf. The permanent dental implant is what is used to hold the artificial tooth.
The trick to having a successful dental implant is in the timing of when it is placed in the mouth, especially with children. For both boys and girls, orthodontists and dentists agree that a dental implant is best placed in the mouth during the mid-teen years. Those who work in dentistry as well as orthodontic doctors cannot guarantee a dental implant will be a complete success and without risk. The patient will often decide whether having a dental implant or not is worth risks in both cases.
Dental implants are more common than ever and often chosen over not having an implant to avoid surrounding tooth movement and further damage to the area of the missing tooth. Dentists who use dental implants report a very low chance of infection or rejection with implants. The success rate with dental implants is far more impressive as well as the way they make a person feel with a complete set of beautiful teeth.
