A Brighter Smile – Obtained In 2 Hours

Many dentists consider teeth whitening the safest cosmetic procedure around. There are whitening toothpastes out, over the counter treatments and those you can have done under the supervision of a dentist. But there is also a procedure that promises same-day results.

Steve Mills is agreed to undergo the latest tooth whitening procedure called the Zoom. His teeth aren't as white as they could be after over 30 years of smoking. Having smoked for that period of time has affected the color of my teeth and since I have not smoked for a few years, I'll have them treated so they can be as white as they can be.

Mishawaka dentist Dr. Matthew Brennan said, Steve's teeth are yellow which is very good. The yellow and browns bleach very well and he's got a very uniform color.

Dr. Brennan conducts the procedure during one office visit that lasts a couple hours. The results are instant. I think partially its convenience driven. Its like one-stop shopping. You get it done and you're done. He says it's perfectly safe and there is no enamel damage whatsoever.

Because the procedure uses an ultraviolet light, Steve's gum tissue was first which was protected with a blue, liquid rubber. A white sheath covered the lips and cotton filled in the gaps so only the teeth are exposed. Then the process began.

It's a UV light with a 25% hydrogen peroxide supplied to the teeth with an applicator and the patient sits in the chair for three 20-minute sessions, explained Dr. Brennan.

After each session the solution is cleaned off and reapplied. After three sessions and about two hours later, Steve is ready to see the results. Steve's teeth have been lightened 10 shades. He said, It is very noticeable.

During the next 24 hours there will some sensitivity and restrictions. Steve will not be able to drink red wines, staining food or drink coffee or tea.

Steve said, I think the results are very good! As much as I could have hoped for.
