Power Vs Manual Toothbrush – Which Is Better?

A study released this week concludes that power toothbrushes employing rotation oscillation technology are the only toothbrushes more effective than manual or any other type of powered brushes. The study, conducted by the Cochrane Collaboration, a British-based non-profit health research group, concluded that toothbrushes that rotate in one direction and then in the other, like SpinBrush, are more effective in both removing plaque and reducing gingivitis than manual and power brushes that use other motions.

Studies published in The Journal of Clinical Dentistry also show SpinBrush Pro reduced gingivitis by about 60% after one month of use and to whiten stained teeth by up to 62 percent after four weeks of use. In addition, it was shown to remove more plaque than leading manual brushes.

It’s the beginning of the end of manual toothbrushes and we predict that they will be virtually obsolete within the next decade, says Mitra. Consumers are already starting to switch over to electric brushes en masse because of the availability of high quality brushes at low prices.
