Toothbrush Sanitizer – Kills Germs That Can Attack The Immune System
When was the last time you sanitized your toothbrush? If you're like most people, probably never. Germ Terminator Corporation, a company based in Henderson, Nevada is posing this question to consumers in a quest to eliminate the potential health hazards that are caused by the daily activity of brushing the teeth.
The Germ Terminator is a medical device sold over-the-counter designed to kill the millions of germs that lurk on toothbrushes and can infect and re-infect the body with each tooth brushing. According to The Journal of the American Dental Association, the toothbrush is a moist, fertile breeding ground for bacteria, and evidence has shown that an unsanitized toothbrush poses health risks.
Bacteria, viruses, fungi, molds, and yeasts have been shown to develop on the toothbrush after each use. In one research study, 100 million germs were found on a single toothbrush. The germs can potentially seep into the bloodstream through tiny openings on the gums or tongue caused by the bristles of a toothbrush, and can harm on the immune system. A September 2000 Oral Health in America report by the Surgeon General stated that mouth-related germ infections have been consistently associated with diabetes, cardiovascular disease, strokes, and adverse pregnancy outcomes.
Without proper toothbrush hygiene, people can infect and re-infect themselves over and over again and germs can spread from toothbrush to toothbrush. According to the Centers for Disease Control, the bathroom is a hot zone for bacterial contamination. In fact, each time the toilet is flushed, toilet germs are propelled in the air where they can land on toothbrushes and cause subsequent infections.
The Germ Terminator works by steam cleaning the toothbrush with high temperature sanitizing heat that kills germs. Dry heat then maintains the sanitized environment where the toothbrush is stored until the next tooth brushing.
Operation of the Germ Terminator is simple. After brushing, the toothbrush placed in a chamber in the small countertop device's clean chamber to prevent contamination from airborne germs. Water is added and the sanitization begins automatically. The entire process takes less than 10 seconds of the users time and sanitation is recommended after each brushing of the teeth to prevent rapid re-growth of the germs.
